River Gods

 

Tonight my friends and I are going to dinner at a place in Cambridge called River Gods.  This place is awesome because they have vegan options that can be substituted for lots of their regular menu items.  Places like this are few and far between, and I wish there were more of them.  To go to a restaurant where there are choices for me  (the vegan) and for my friends (non-vegans) is really exciting.  I think a place like this is really the wave of the future.  If you live in Boston and you’ve never been, check it out and try something vegan!

I used to walk down the street to my local bakery and get their amazing version of a bagel with lox.  Let me be strong and remember that a minute on my lips is not worth the pain and suffering of another animal! I know it would be gross, but why can't they make some kind of vegan substitute for salmon?  

They could call it Salm-none?

Paperless Post

 

Everyone loves to get a letter in the mail, right?!  Well these days it seems like it is harder to get to the post office, and no on ever has stamps on hand!  I recently found this awesome site called Paperless Post where you can "mail" people really beautiful cards right through e-mail!!  They come in an animated envelope and look like real letters! They have tons of designs to choose from, or you can customize as much as you like!  When you sign up you automatically get free stamps, so you can start sending people cards right away, for FREE!  I am a fan of this site because it is a step up from just sending an e-mail, it saves paper, and saves you money on stamps, but it is still just as meaningful and special as sending a card in the mail.  Check it out!!! New Job!

I recently started working a new job at a really awesome bio medical start up.  The office space is beautiful, and has a FULLY stocked kitchen! I mentioned to my new boss that I am a vegan, and she said that I am welcome to order any food that I like and am able to eat! I feel beyond lucky to a) have found a job, b) have found a job that I like, and c) have found a job where they are understanding and encouraging of my lifestyle choices!  The kitchen has tons of snacky foods that aren't vegan, so it has definitely been a challenge avoiding them.  BUT I am going to start stocking healthy vegan items, and maybe people won't even notice!
